The Enigma Guide takes a beast of a minimalist sandal and adds 3mm to the midsole for more protection underfoot for those who put in a ton of miles on tough terrain. This model uses the same aggressive Megagrip Zegama sole as the standard Enigma giving it great purchase on loose dirt and the denser rubber compound allows it to grip rock better than softer rubbers can.

The Enigma Guide is built from a 1mm Ultralight footbed, a 6mm Vibram Morflex midsole, and the super grippy 5mm Vibram Zegama outsole. This particular setup was previously available by customizing the standard Enigma but due to the popularity of this customization, is now it's own model. 

After selecting your size and foot shape, you’ll build your sandals, choosing your outsole, footbed, and strap colors for a custom design!

Feet are all so different! We have three ways to order:

  1. Easiest Way: Order your size in the standard shape for the least fuss.

  2. Better Fit Way: If you want to pick from our 5 foot shape options, read about the differences and print our sizing templates to select the best one for your foot.

  3. Fully Custom Way: We don’t offer fully custom shapes in the Enigma Guide sandal. If you need a fully custom shape and want great traction, check out the Pursuit.

The Enigma Guide is the most technical and rugged sandal we offer. Like the standard Enigma, this sandal is built for long-term abuse on the trails (just even more so). The ultralight anti-slip footbeds offer excellent grip in wet conditions while keeping the sandal from getting too stiff or heavy, the deep lugs and firm rubber outsole add traction on loose dirt and rock, and the added midsole thickness offers a bit more protection from rocks underfoot.

What Adam has to say about the Enigma Guide after his ECT thru-hike:

I normally enjoy my sandals to be thin and minimal, so the Perception and Onsight were tempting, but I wanted to test out what I consider the best long-distance hiking sandal I make, the Enigma Guide (w/ankle straps). I was pleasantly surprised by how they felt: minimal despite being about as thick as I like to make sandals. They were super flexible because of the thin footbeds, and while a bit on the heavy side when compared to the other models, they didn't feel heavy or clunky on the foot. I even feel that the slight added stack height helped keep my feet drier at times in soggy ground and shallow puddles. I don't think any other sandal offers a more sure footing on difficult and variable terrain. When the trail gets super technical, the best grip is extremely important. After 250 miles, they still look almost new.
